So this last weekend, we did two things. Saw Harry Potter IMAX in 3D (I hadn't seen it at all yet) at the Bridge. It was about freakin' time. It was an enjoyable movie, as far as movies go, but I will never understand all the need to change things you don't really have to. And of course, there is the tug of all the things you hoped would make it in the movie but never had a chance. I long ago divorced the books from the movies, and I am much happier that way.

So anyway, bottom line, I would give it a solid B. I loved all the goofy teen dorkiness that abounded in this one.

The other thing we did this weekend was get new bikes! Juan has been wanting to get bikes for a while now and after stalling and research, we finally got a couple. Our price point was pretty low, so we weren't looking for professional bikes or anything. We ended up at a local bike shop where the owner helped us out himself. It was nice, like a real neighborhood. It's hard to explain, but in LA, it's hard to get the real neighborhood vibe. That place was totally giving that vibe though. Kids and adults, all ages, walked in with their bikes or parts for help and/or replacements. It was nice to see a small local businessman doing well, especially in this economy. Been there for around 17 years or something like that.

Juan got a mountain bike because he wants to be able to go off the main road sometimes.

I got a 7-speed cruiser (with a basket!).

Me and my sweet new ride. (by Anitza V)

We went for a ride by the Los Angeles River (which you can see from our apartment balcony). We didn't ride much, I am so out of shape! It totally kicked my butt.

But I guess that is the hardest part, starting, right? Here's to making positive changes!

Yours is way better! Lol did you see my bikes?

Hahaha, that's an awesome comment. Had to read that one out loud to Juan. And I did and went again last night to show Juan (and then he went, "SEE?! No WONDER she likes your bike more!!") and to leave a comment but then I forgot. I love the banana seats and that you have a name for each. But goodness woman, why so many?!

A) Go You!
B) Your bike is ADORABLE
c) Thank you, sincerely, for purchasing your bike at a bike shop. You will be so glad you did. I know it is more expensive than what you find at a Toys R Us or Target, but those bikes have frames that bend really easily (and a bent frame is not repairable) and are just not of the same quality of a real bike shop. Plus it is awesome when you support a local business like that.
I may need to dust off my Specialized Globe...

A) Thank you! *beams*
B) Thanks again! :D *beams some more*
c) I knew that you would appreciate my sentiment! We did shop around at Target etc and while they were cheaper, we ended up at this bike shop and it just felt right. Yes, it is more expensive, but this is also a person with a family and a wonderful local business that I am proud to support.

Awesome pictures and awesome, awesome bikes!

The hardest part is indeed starting. You won't feeel a thing once you've got 500 miles under your belt! *grin*
How do you take such unbelievable pictures?

Oh man, perhaps I should keep a bike log to tally up my first 500 miles! Hahaha, that seems so daunting!

And you are so kind. All I can say is practice, practice, and more practice. And post-process if you have time. :D

A travel blog sounds like a great idea!
It looks like my colleagues are going to offer me a camera at my leaving party, so I'll get more practice than I do now. Then you'll have to teach me about the post-process magic!

Love love love those pictures! And that is a totally sweet bike. :D

Oops! Missed this comment! Thank you very much! :D I totally dig my new bike.

I love your photos! Very vintagey looking. PS Your bike looks very similar to mine, which I call the Miss Gulch Bike (I just have a kiddo seat in the back instead of a basket up front).

Thank you! (Sorry for the lateness!)

I'm glad you like the look of the photos, I played around with them in PS. I haven't named my bike yet, wasn't really planning on it but it looks like everyone around here names their bikes. lol
